Project Description
Objectives The objective of this project is to develop an open-source, flexible and re-usable scientific multi-mission Toolbox facilitating the handling, post-processing and scientific analysis of the data products from the Sentinel-2 mission and other optical high-resolution missions.
Abstract

In the framework of this project, an open-source, flexible and re-usable scientific multi-mission Toolbox will be developped with the aim of facilitating the handling, post-processing and scientific analysis of the data products from the Multi-Spectral Instrument (MSI) of the Sentinel-2 mission.

The S-2 Toolbox will further:

(1) integrate the Level-2A processor, and
(2) include a tool for converting Level-1C reflectances into radiances.

In addition to Sentinel-2, the S-2 Toolbox shall support the following set of multi-spectral imaging sensors listed in order of priority:

  • Landsat MSS/TM/ETM+/OLI/TIRS;
  • SPOT 1-7;
  • RapidEye;
  • UK-DMC;
  • Deimos-1;
  • Ingenio/SEOSAT;
  • EnMAP;
  • PRISMA

The project also includes the maintenance (during the 30 months of contract duration) of the Toolbox codebase, provision of user support, development of training material as well as delivery of dedicated hands-on training to S-2 Toolbox users and developers.

The will be carried out in collaboration with the developers of the Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-3 toolboxes, which are being developed in separate projects.

This project will also include the extension of the S-2 Toolbox for the exploitation on cloud processing platforms and for the integration of additional plug-in processors.
