Project Description
Objectives

The PPP project objectives are:

  • To develop a daily PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) product from ENVISAT/MERIS and Sentinel 3/OLCI.
  • To develop innovative complementary radiative products, for example PAR below the surface, scalar PAR, spectral PAR or absorbed fraction of PAR by live algae.
  • To show an example of application of these products to the Primary Production modelling.
  • To engage the user community involved in ecosystem modelling, climate change and carbon cycle monitoring. For that purpose, a Demonstration Data Set (DDS) covering the full year 2011 from MERIS will be distributed in the 2nd quarter of 2016 for evaluation. User’s feedback will be discussed through a dedicated workshop.

Abstract

The PAR for Primary Production (PPP) project will explore satellite algorithms to provide the maximum of radiative quantities inputs necessary for the modelling of underwater ecosystems.
